Announcing our newest Senior Vice President & Principal/Vice President.

BRR is excited to announce recent promotions within our leadership team! Principal John Frank has been promoted to Senior Vice President, and Andrew Maass has been promoted from Senior Associate to Principal. John and Andrew lead our Bentonville and Philadelphia teams, respectively, and both have extensive experience working on national retail programs.

We asked John and Andrew to answer a few questions and give more insight about their careers here, what they’re excited about, and the advice they find themselves giving to others.

John Frank

How long have you been with BRR?
It’ll be 14 years this July.

What do you remember about your first day?
I was the 100th employee, and to celebrate, there was a large banner over my workstation and a basket with office supplies waiting for me. I didn’t learn that there had also been cookies in the basket until years later when my wife and a few friends confessed they’d eaten them during my orientation.

What is one of the most valuable lessons you’ve learned in your career here?
It is far better to run towards a problem than away from it – but make sure you’re prepared.

What advice do you find yourself giving often to other team members?
Be curious, and make sure you understand why in addition to the how and what. Understanding correlations will not only accelerate your learning, but commonly leads to learning from others, too.

What excites you most about working at BRR?
Opportunity. There’s more innovation and evolution happening in the markets we serve than I’ve ever witnessed, and because of our commitment and ability to deliver for our clients, we’re getting tapped over and over to a part of the team driving these shifts and envisioning new concepts.

Andrew Maass

How long have you been with BRR?
4 years in KC, 3 years in San Fran, 5 years in Philly…not that I’m counting.

What is one of the most valuable lessons you’ve learned in your career here?
Goal planning! Before joining BRR, I had a lot of goals, but didn’t track or write them down … I was under the impression that, if you kind of know where you’re going and you work hard, you’ll get there. Working at a company that is goal-fanatic and focused on where we’re going is inspiring.

What advice do you find yourself giving often to other team members?
Just go for it. If there’s a new aspect of the job that you’re curious about, jump in and figure it out. Ask and never stop learning. If you see a problem, find a solution. Team up with new people. Branch out!

What excites you most about working at BRR?
Mentoring young designers and helping them grow into well-rounded architects.

What is one personal goal you hope to accomplish in 2016?
Live through the terrible twos! … kidding, it’s not that bad. Honestly, I’m excited to watch my son start playing soccer this summer.

Congratulations, John and Andrew, and thank you for your leadership!
