James joined BRR as an Intern Architect in 1993. In 2003, he was named a Principal in the firm. James manages BRR’s Remodel Teams specializing in adapting existing spaces, buildings, and design guidelines to our client’s requirements. He teaches his philosophy for success with “work hard, play hard” and goal setting. James is often found asking young architects, “How are you going to get there, if you don’t know where you are going?”

James’ upbringing in a “do-it-yourself” family exposed him early on to remodeling and construction, ultimately leading him to the field of architecture. After graduating from Kansas State University in 1991, James and his wife remodeled several of their own homes. Their latest home remodel project was a house they previously built, which they promptly started remodeling just weeks after moving in it. James maintains Professional Architectural Registrations in 6 states. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Kansas State University.

James enjoys water sports, snow skiing out-of-bounds, coaching/competing in team sports, and traveling with wife Linda, daughter Kelsey, and son Trent.
