Because they are an integral part in conveying construction and contractual information, we write clear, concise, correct and complete specifications to communicate project requirements.

Case Study: Mastering the Specification Challenge

BRR demonstrates our ability to write appropriate and detailed project specifications.

Jim Lee, AIA, CSI, CCS Jim holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design degree from the University of Kansas. Jim is a member of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) with more than 30 years of architectural experience with a wide range of project types including tenant office space, movie theaters, educational facilities, sports arenas and stadiums. In 2008 Jim became an Associate and leads BRR's Specifications Team.

Our Challenge
While the majority of the specifications that BRR produces are based on our client's master specifications, at times there is a need to produce a specification for project specific requirements and/or elements.

Our Solution
Developing the appropriate specification involves research of available materials, products, and systems. Manufacturer and/or product sales representatives, catalogs, product information, web sites, and specifications along with AIA MasterSpec, previous BRR specifications and experience are among the reference sources used to produce a specification.

Our Results
Our intent is that the resulting specification be clear, concise, correct and complete in communicating what is required. Specifications developed for various project specific requirements and/or elements include site furnishings, stained concrete, cast stone ornaments, gutter and fascia system, silk screened glazing, architectural louvers and flag pole lighting.
