BRR's services include full-scope design with local in-country consultants including training, prototype development, quality control and peer reviews. Understanding local construction methods and materials is as important as building codes in our everyday design process.

Case Study: International Prototype Facilitates Global Expansion

International retailers count on BRR to ensure consistency and quality through this time of growth, and we deliver.

Juan Manuel Hernandez Juan Manuel holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the Universidad Iberoamericana (Mexico). He is currently serving on the BRR International Team. He has been with BRR since 2005.

Our Challenge
Growing in a very important way, Wal-Mart Mexico is opening almost 100 new stores every year, with four different formats for retail stores. Having four different formats (Superama, Supercenter, Bodega, Sam’s) the challenge was to create a prototype program to help Wal-Mart establish better standards for the new construction projects.

Our Solution
BRR created a program with nine different prototype designs. Each format is maintained and updated each month to include design changes that Wal-Mart chooses to implement in all of its stores. BRR also implements and maintains drawing standards that make it more efficient to issue a high quality Grocery package in the timely fashion that Wal-Mart has come to expect from its consultants.

This solution was implemented in the design of a layout for the new Superama format.

Our Results
With the implementation of this prototype, BRR is greatly improving the production and quality of many projects all over Mexico. Wal-Mart Mexico counted on BRR to ensure consistency and quality during this time of growth, and BRR delivers. In this scenario, the results were immediate. With our creation of this new image, Superama is now getting a great deal of attention from other countries.
