The new owners of the office building at 4600 Madison Ave were ready to update the lobby and elevate the design of the 16 floor building and tenants. While doing so, the lobby had to remain open and construction had to be minimal to avoid inconveniencing tenants and their guests. The dated granite walls were clad in gyp board and large format tile. Our team chose a lighter color palette to create a much brighter and lighter environment, while still coordinating with existing brass finishes and hardware that were not replaced. The flooring was also replaced with porcelain tile and carpet. The colors and pattern break up the space with random honed tiles that allow the light to reflect with a slight twinkle. The new carpet centers the seating area, softening the acoustics from the former all hard surface space. The new furniture creates an additional waiting area and allows guests to charge devices. Overall, the project dramatically changed the look and feel of the space while keeping to the client’s budget.
